The main aim of this summer event is to put some important and specific issues about the development of South East Europe during the era of transition, by merging together the education, economic and cultural areas of lifestyle in the region of SEEU.

Contextualization of art/architecture recently begins to act as an indicator in defining complex approaches to the phenomena of identity and expression (individuality of artistic presence). Treated as organic part of the entire artistic scene, architecture becomes (again) a battlefield for different experiments. The nature of its inner space is influenced not only with the general mainstreams in architecture and art, but with the recent globalization phenomena too.  

Thematic Framework

The specific dynamic of "connecting" (appropriate to the arch/artists that create in a real context) nowadays is often in a range of demands. It results with a position of that dynamic process, which is less aesthetical than political. That is much more an engagement in which arch/artists leaves the "decision making" part of the process to the others, than the others that become collaborators in the process - wanting that or not.

Idealistic tradition of art had left the real world aside for a long period of time. Recent transformations of the culture, forced by general tendencies, shows that the arch/artist want to be in the "hearth of the world" so they could act directly. They want to provoke, to response, to express. Arch/artists would like to believe (in Duchamp's context of expression), that "the consumers create the picture".

Re-actualization of this mean, points that in recent processes, it is evident (obvious) that any realization (arch/artistic) is not finished until it is completed with the appropriate response by the public. In that sense, to provoke any reaction, means: to complicate, to upgrade any single realization to the level when it stops existing as an object any more, beginning its journey as an adventure, as a new meeting, or beginning some new experience of art, having a tendency to fulfill, to enrich the method.

Contextual approach introduces breaking with the tradition, but with conservative one, which is resistant to any influence of modern interpretation or re-interpretation. At the other side, the existing of experiment, or more precisely, the necessity of experimentation, introduces all which is "new", but announcing "what will be" as well. This explains the contextual nature of arch/artistic expression, promoting the idea of morphological grow of the art itself, including the natural and logical consequence: the complete absence of any possibility of "framing" the arch/artistic products in some kind of final, or determined forms or media.

The education & research in the field of arch/arts into the SEE region is still at the very beginning of the systematic approach but trying to finish some projects which are already started and to put their first results in the public "eye" . Unfortunately the first feedback of the issues/projects linked to the research also showed that this attempts are still undermined by the local governments and education that makes such programme urgent. Especially in the reforms of Higher Education in Republic of Macedonia as part of Bologna Reforms the visual arts are apart of this processes. So this will be an excellent opportunity for the domestic students, students form the Region and the International students to study and share knowledge, experience in Macedonian context.

Methodology

The "HUMANOPOLIS ars" summer academy will bring an interdisciplinary methodological approach in the field of visual arts disciplines.

This will be realized trough the different activities of the summer school concept such as: lectures, assignments, presentations, discussions, field work etc.

The target of this summer school are the students from the last 2 years of their study on bachelor level or the first year of their master studies from the architecture and other fields related to the visual arts disciplines.

In addition to the courses, debates will be organized to stimulate discussions on attractive topics outside the classroom. There will also be entertainment and recreation such as parties and excursions. These activities will give you the opportunity to meet and socialize with classmates and professors.

Language

All 3 courses will be instructed in English.

English will be the working language at the "HUMANOPOLIS ars" summer academy.

Certificates and ECTS  

Students who attend at least 80% of their classes and pass the appropriate assignments and examinations will receive a " Humanopolis ars Summer Academy Certificate" that is compatible with the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS).

The certificate is issued by the professors and Humanopolis .

The average number of ECTS credits per course is 3.

Format

• 80 students from MK, SEEU Region an all over the Europe
• 3 courses in the field of Architecture & Visual Arts (design, sculpture, painting, video, film, other media.)
• Each course will be composed by 25 students/participants

Criteria for participation

•  Be a student on BA or MA studies in relevant field

•  Have a academic level of knowledge of English language

•  Be open and creative for the new approaches in the field of architecture & visual arts

•  Be willing expand your knowledge and skills and to express you creativity

The complete costs of the two-week course for the participants (instead of lectures of respectable professors, certificates & ETCS credits, as describe above), includes:

• Accommodation (2 and 3 bad rooms in Hotel Turist - Metropol hotel complex, Ohrid www.metropol-ohrid.com )
• Breakfast & Lunch (cocktail buffet)
• Materials and literature (riders) for the courses
• Excursions, parties, public debates & cultural events
